Be Still and Know: Trusting God's Timing in Your Journey
Have you ever found yourself rushing ahead, trying to make something happen in your own strength? Through two simple, yet powerful moments while driving, God showed me:
- Why rushing ahead can cause unnecessary harm
- How waiting protects us and positions us for His promises
- Why trusting God's pace is just as important as trusting His promises
If you're in a season where you're tired of waiting or tempted to move before He says “go” this conversation is for you.“ Key Verse: Psalm 46:10 AMP “Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth.”
Takeaways from this episode:
- Be more concerned with God’s voice than people’s opinions.
- Trust that God’s timing is always protective and perfect—even when you can't see what's ahead.
- Praise Him while you wait, and allow the waiting to prepare your heart for what’s next.
Reminder: If God hasn't told you to move don't move. If He tells you to go—move quickly in obedience.

Welcome to the Transformational Teacher Podcast.
Speaker A:I am your host Detoya, and I am so thankful for each one of you.
Speaker A:This podcast is all about walking with Jesus in every season, trusting his timing and fulfilling our kingdom assignment with joy, peace and confidence.
Speaker A:Whether you're a teacher, a leader, or simply someone just seeking to grow in your faith, this is the place for you.
Speaker A:And and again, thank you so much for being here.
Speaker A:Today we are going to dive into something that God has been impressing on my heart.
Speaker A:Learning to be still and trust him even when you don't see the full picture.
Speaker A:If you ever felt restless while waiting on God again, this is for you.
Speaker A:Our key verse for today is Psalms 46, verse 10.
Speaker A:I will read it out the amplified version.
Speaker A:It says, be still and know.
Speaker A:Recognize and understand that I am God.
Speaker A:I will be exalted among the nations.
Speaker A:I will be exalted in the earth again.
Speaker A:That is Psalms 46, verse 10, amplified version this scripture has been helping me so much in this season of where I'm like God, do you want me to do this?
Speaker A:Do you want me to do it now?
Speaker A:Or do you want me to wait?
Speaker A:But I'm learning again to be still, recognize his voice, and I'm learning to act in quicker obedience.
Speaker A:So again, have you ever found yourself rushing ahead, trying to make things happen.
Speaker B:In your own strength?
Speaker A:Maybe you felt the urge to push forward even when you weren't sure if it was the right time.
Speaker B:God again has been teaching me this.
Speaker A:Powerful lesson about waiting on him and it's been amazing how he has taught.
Speaker B:This lesson to me.
Speaker A:It's actually been two experiences that I have had on my way home.
Speaker A:I'm going to tell you about the first experience a few days ago.
Speaker A:I was driving home and I found myself behind a slow moving truck with a Jeep following behind it and I noticed that the two cars had already passed them successfully.
Speaker A:I was getting ready to pass as well.
Speaker A:And if you know me, I don't do too good with passing.
Speaker A:But this time I was like, no, I'm in the past because I'm ready to get home.
Speaker A:But then something told me to wait.
Speaker A:At first I thought maybe I should go ahead and go.
Speaker A:But I hesitated.
Speaker A:And I'm so thankful that I did that I listened to the Holy Spirit when He said to wait because had I tried to pass I would have gotten hit head on because guess what?
Speaker A:Right after those two cars went, a line of oncoming traffic appeared.
Speaker A:And it's like it came out of nowhere.
Speaker A:And the thing is, I wouldn't have seen them in time to get back in the spot that I was in.
Speaker A:I really wouldn't have the time to get off the road at all.
Speaker A:Those cars would have hit me head on and it wouldn't only affected me, but it would have affected those cars behind because it would have been about a five or six car accident.
Speaker B:So the lesson here, God used this.
Speaker A:Moment to show me how often we try to rush ahead in life.
Speaker A:We don't like waiting.
Speaker A:We want to force things to happen in our own timing.
Speaker A:But just like in this moment when we move ahead of God, guess what?
Speaker A:We end up in dangerous situations that could have been avoided if we would.
Speaker B:Have just waited on Him.
Speaker A:So it is so important to wait on the Lord.
Speaker A:Sometimes when we take matters into our own hands, we create a mess, a big mess at that.
Speaker A:And if you're like me, I don't like mess.
Speaker A:If God hasn't told you to move, don't move.
Speaker A:But if he tells you to go, move quickly in obedience.
Speaker B:You want to move in alignment with.
Speaker A:God, not in alignment with yourself, with your flesh, but move in alignment with God.
Speaker A:And then the amazing thing was a few days later, this happened again and again.
Speaker A:I was driving home, traffic was flowing smoothly until I got stuck behind a truck.
Speaker A:The speed limit was about 55, but I was now going 41 because of the truck.
Speaker A:And at first, to be honest, I got frustrated cuz I had already told my husband earlier that I hope traffic flows so smoothly.
Speaker A:Cuz I am ready to get home, I am ready to get in the bed.
Speaker A:But we are here now.
Speaker A:We were stuck behind someone that was going slow.
Speaker A:Then God spoke to me again.
Speaker A:Remember what I told you?
Speaker B:Be still and know that I am God.
Speaker A:Let me handle every situation.
Speaker B:I need you to listen to me.
Speaker A:If I tell you to move, move.
Speaker A:But if I tell you to wait, trust me and wait.
Speaker A:And the amazing thing about God, he helps us so much.
Speaker A:He says, daughter, I'm trying to help you out.
Speaker A:Listen to me, this is my second time coming to you with this.
Speaker B:Be still and and trust me.
Speaker A:I promise you what I have for you is greater.
Speaker B:And the thing this time that I didn't realize was that I was so.
Speaker A:Close to my exit that there was really no need for me to get upset.
Speaker A:Like I was just enjoy the ride.
Speaker A:And that's sometimes how it is with us.
Speaker A:We try to move so fast, we try to move ahead of God and.
Speaker B:We'Re so close to our breakthrough.
Speaker B:But then we do something we're not supposed to do.
Speaker A:And it causes us to get off.
Speaker B:The path that God has.
Speaker A:And then it causes us to be depressed, delayed.
Speaker A:It caused us not to get that thing that God had for us if.
Speaker B:We were so close to it.
Speaker B:But we took in our own hands.
Speaker A:And said, let me take control.
Speaker A:But again, it's time out for that.
Speaker A:It is time to trust God in life.
Speaker B:We may feel like we're being slowed.
Speaker A:Down when we want to move faster.
Speaker A:But sometimes that slow space pace is protection.
Speaker B:God knows what's ahead.
Speaker B:Sometimes he slows us down to keep us from something that is harmful.
Speaker B:He knows everything.
Speaker B:Instead of fighting the waiting season, we.
Speaker A:Need to trust the process and follow his lead.
Speaker A:Proverbs 3, 5, 6.
Speaker B:It says.
Speaker A:I'm summarizing it.
Speaker B:Trust in the Lord with all of your heart.
Speaker B:Lean not into your own understanding.
Speaker A:In all your ways, acknowledge Him.
Speaker B:And as you acknowledge him, he will.
Speaker A:Guide and direct you along the right path.
Speaker B:And I believe it's the amplified version.
Speaker A:Is that says he will remove obstacles out of your way.
Speaker A:So again, trust God.
Speaker B:Trust God.
Speaker B:Lean on him.
Speaker B:Let go of control and allow God to handle what he does best.
Speaker A:Now let's wrap this on up.
Speaker B:What this means for you.
Speaker B:Many of us are in a waiting season, waiting for a breakthrough, a prayer to be answered, or for direction from God.
Speaker B:It's easy to want to rush ahead.
Speaker A:When we feel like nothing is happening.
Speaker B:But God is saying, be still.
Speaker B:Wait on me.
Speaker A:Trust my process.
Speaker B:You may be so close to what God has for you, but again, if you try to take matters in your.
Speaker A:Own hands, you could mess it up.
Speaker A:Take your hands off of it.
Speaker A:I'm going.
Speaker B:Say it again.
Speaker B:Take your hands off of it.
Speaker B:Allow God to have the control.
Speaker B:Allow God to guide and direct your path.
Speaker B:So again, stop worrying.
Speaker B:Let God have His way.
Speaker A:People may try to rush you.
Speaker B:Pressure may come.
Speaker B:People may judge you in your waiting season.
Speaker B:But here's the thing.
Speaker B:We don't need to be concerned about them.
Speaker B:We need to be concerned about God.
Speaker B:We need to do what God is telling us to do.
Speaker B:Stay on the path that he has for you.
Speaker B:Don't compare your journey to someone else's journey.
Speaker B:Stay focused on what God has told you to do.
Speaker B:Worship while waiting.
Speaker B:Worship in your waiting season.
Speaker B:Seek him in your waiting season.
Speaker B:Spend time with him in your waiting season.
Speaker B:Draw close to him in your waiting season instead of pulling away from Him.
Speaker B:Because I promise you, life is so much better with him than without Him.
Speaker B:Because this is the thing.
Speaker A:In that waiting season, if you're without.
Speaker B:God, things are going to get worse.
Speaker A:But if you're with God, if you.
Speaker B:Continue to seek him things, things can.
Speaker A:Only get better for you.
Speaker B:So again, this is what God has been dealing with me about.
Speaker A:Waiting on him, trusting his timing.
Speaker B:So again, be still.
Speaker B:Know that he is God.
Speaker B:Trust him.
Speaker B:Trust the process.
Speaker B:Trust the promise he has given to you.
Speaker A:I encourage you, take time to reflect.
Speaker B:Where in your life do you need to slow down and trust God's timing?
Speaker A:And as always, thank you for listening to this episode.
Speaker A:We are going to wrap up in prayer.
Speaker B:Well, Heavenly Father, we thank you right now.

Speaker B:We will continue to seek you.
Speaker B:And as we seek you.
Speaker B:We thank you Father for answering us.
Speaker B:We thank you Father for ministering to us.
Speaker B:We thank you Father for helping us on this journey, Lord.
