Help Is on the Way: A Reminder for Every Christian Teacher

This episode comes from the middle of it all — a real-time moment where I needed God’s reminder that He is near. If you’re in a hard teaching season too, I pray this speaks to your heart the way it spoke to mine.

I’ve been walking through a season that has tested my strength, my patience, and honestly… my faith. This year has stretched me like never before, and I found myself asking: “Am I really helping? Am I making a difference?”

One thing my principal often says is: “Help is on the way.” And wow, has God been confirming that for me lately — both in spiritual and natural ways.

Whether you’re a teacher or just someone in a tough season, I pray this episode reminds you:

💜 God sees you.

💜 Help is on the way.

💜 You don’t have to carry this alone.

💜 Give yourself grace. You still have time.

💜 It’s not about doing it all — it’s about collaboration and consistency.

Whether you need prayer, community, or a quiet moment to reset — I’ve created spaces for you to be poured into. Here’s where you can find support

Speaker A:

Hello and welcome to the Transformational Teacher Podcast.

Speaker A:

I am your host, detoya.

Speaker A:

Thank you so much for being here today.

Speaker A:

We are going to get right into our topic.

Speaker A:

It is all about help is on the way.

Speaker A:

And this is one thing that my principal often says, that help is on the way.

Speaker A:

And I was sitting one day, I can't remember actually if I was driving home or where I was, but I could hear so clearly, help is on the way.

Speaker A:

And she usually lets us know how help is on the way.

Speaker A:

We don't always know how the help is going to come, but we know God is going to send us the help that we need.

Speaker A:

We just have to be open and receiving of his help.

Speaker A:

And the thing is, this season I have been learning this firsthand.

Speaker A:

There has been moments in my classroom this year where I've just sat there and wondered, am I really helping?

Speaker A:

There's been some moments where I have been there physically, but not mentally there because of just all the things that are happening, what was happening in the classroom.

Speaker A:

And I was starting to feel helpless some days, defeated some days.

Speaker A:

And some days I felt like, okay, God, we got it.

Speaker A:

Other days I felt like I was drowning.

Speaker A:

But the thing is, I kept remembering help is on the way.

Speaker A:

And I had to remember walk in humility, ask for help as needed.

Speaker A:

through a challenging year in:

Speaker A:

I've never had a classroom like I have this year.

Speaker A:

Out of my about 17 years of teaching, I've never been hit by a student.

Speaker A:

I've never had a student to throw things at me, to pull my hair and so many other different things.

Speaker A:

It was sometimes where I would just be trying to make sure to the other kids were safe.

Speaker A:

And I just felt like I wasn't able to teach effectively because of the things that were happening.

Speaker A:

But again, I kept hearing help is on the way.

Speaker A:

And my principal will remind me of that.

Speaker A:

And God has been so gracious through all this school year.

Speaker A:

He has been there every step of the way.

Speaker A:

He has been sending people across my pathway and he's been teaching me that sometimes it takes a multitude, a team of people coming together with their wisdom, their resources, their ideas.

Speaker A:

And I've had to walk in humility for sure to receive help, to keep shining my light and to bring the tools God has given me to the table, but also be open and willing to receive the help that he is sending.

Speaker A:

And when I tell you help is on the way.

Speaker A:

I want to encourage you, trust him.

Speaker A:

Help is on the way.

Speaker A:

God sent help like I didn't see coming because we had been reaching out to people and we had someone to come out and observe.

Speaker A:

And when they observe my classroom, they notice help is needed.

Speaker A:

And it was like within 30 minutes to an hour, we received a notification that we were going to have someone to be in the classroom with us to help with the things that were taking place, especially with one student.

Speaker A:

So again, in help is on the way.

Speaker A:

And this was the one person that was coming in to help.

Speaker A:

But then we had other people coming in to observe, to offer assistance, you know, to give strategies and things to that nature.

Speaker A:

So again, help is on the way.

Speaker A:

And I want you to remember, help is on the way.

Speaker A:

And it's not about doing things in our own strength.

Speaker A:

It's about doing it in God's strength.

Speaker A:

And also it's not about doing it on our own.

Speaker A:

Naturally, it's about collaboration with those God has placed in your life.

Speaker A:

Everyone contributing what they carry and then moving forward with consistency.

Speaker A:

That's what truly makes a difference.

Speaker A:

One thing for sure, God has sent help.

Speaker A:

The spiritual help and the natural help.

Speaker A:

The natural help.

Speaker A:

Again, it has been different because I'm not the type of person to want others in my classroom like that.

Speaker A:

But I noticed this year, one, I didn't have a choice because the help was needed, but I had to be open and receptive to receive the the help, receive the wisdom that the man has been given to us to help this student, but also to help our students overall.

Speaker A:

And so again, help is on the way.

Speaker A:

And then I want to be honest, also this year, again, it feels different.

Speaker A:

By the end of September, we are now mid October and everything.

Speaker A:

And I usually feel further along with my students.

Speaker A:

I love doing the small groups, helping them grow.

Speaker A:

But this time my attention, it was pulled away heavily toward one student and a few other students that I have been experiencing challenges with.

Speaker A:

And it's easy to feel like other things have slipped through the cracks.

Speaker A:

But then someone on the team the most to the people that has been coming in reminded me, give yourself grace.

Speaker A:

You still have time.

Speaker A:

That stopped me in my tracks because it is true that this year isn't like the past years.

Speaker A:

And I can't measure today against yesterday's progress.

Speaker A:

I can't measure this year's progress against years in the past progress, because this year is not the same.

Speaker A:

The students I'm serving are not the same.

Speaker A:

But one thing I'm thankful for, God is always the same.

Speaker A:

God is the same today, yesterday, and forevermore.

Speaker A:

So regardless if our situations are not the same, God is still the same.

Speaker A:

And God is still willing to to help us.

Speaker A:

He is willing to guide us along the best journey for us.

Speaker A:

So I am thankful that God has been helping me on this journey, that he has been sending people across my pathway to help me.

Speaker A:

Because if he didn't send people across my pathway to help me, I don't know if I would still be there.

Speaker A:

Because again, this year has been challenging.

Speaker A:

And I want to remind you all to give yourself grace.

Speaker A:

Acknowledge where you are, come into alignment with the truth from his word.

Speaker A:

Walk in authority.

Speaker A:

And the key is to be consistent with what he is instructing you to do.

Speaker A:

Take it one step at a time.

Speaker A:

I know sometimes we want to go from A to Z, but sometimes we may need to go from A to B.

Speaker A:

And acknowledge the progress you are making.

Speaker A:

That is one thing that I have had to do this year.

Speaker A:

I acknowledge the progress that has been made because the beginning of the year I wasn't really able to teach an effective lesson.

Speaker A:

Now I can at least teach now.

Speaker A:

There's still some things that are taking place, but it's way better than what it was.

Speaker A:

And the thing is also I am in a better place because I had to realize where I was at and I had to come to the knowledge and understanding that this is where I am.

Speaker A:

But I don't have to stay here.

Speaker A:

So I'm so thankful that God is with me and that he sent the help.

Speaker A:

to me in this season is Psalm:

Speaker A:

You crown the year with a bountiful harvest.

Speaker A:

Even the heart pathways overflow with abundance.

Speaker A:

And this is the scripture that God gave to me at the beginning of the year for this school year.

Speaker A:

It's a scripture that we've been talking about at church for a few years now.

Speaker A:

But this year I heard it so clearly that this is my crowning year.

Speaker A:

And I tell you, when I got got in there, the school year started, I was like, okay, is this what the crowning year looks like?

Speaker A:

But when I read out the NLT version, it says, you crown the year with a bountiful harvest.

Speaker A:

Even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.

Speaker A:

So I know even these this challenging experience that I am going through, I know God's going to get the glory.

Speaker A:

I know something great is coming out of it.

Speaker A:

And I know that God has called me inside the classroom that I am in for a reason.

Speaker A:

My students need me and I need them and I want to to encourage you to keep your eyes focused on God and help is on the way.

Speaker A:

Whatever situation you are going through, help is on the way.

Speaker A:

And God, he will never leave your side.

Speaker A:

He goes before you.

Speaker A:

He walks with you.

Speaker A:

He is right there on this path with you.

Speaker A:

And I want to leave you with one of my favorite verses.

Speaker A:

Proverbs 3 verses 5 through 6 Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding.

Speaker A:

In all your ways, know and acknowledge and recognize him and he will make your path straight and smooth, removing obstacles that block your way.

Speaker A:

So I want to encourage you Trust the Lord.

Speaker A:

Allow him to guide and direct your footsteps even when you can't see things the way he sees it.

Speaker A:

Know that he has the best plan in place for you.

Speaker A:

Know he has the best plan in place for your classroom.

Speaker A:

He knows the students that you serve.

Speaker A:

Allow him to guide and direct your footsteps.

Speaker A:

Also want to leave you with Psalms 121 verses 1 through 2 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills from which cometh my help, my help coming from the Lord which made heaven and earth.

Speaker A:

So again, keep your eyes looking to God.

Speaker A:

That is where your help is going to come from.

Speaker A:

And sometimes he's going to send help directly from him or or indirectly from someone else.

Speaker A:

So remember, help is on the way.

Speaker A:

Keep your eyes focused on him at all times.

Speaker A:

And again, thank you so much for listening to this episode.
