Grace for Your Assignment: Walking in Alignment with God’s Calling Part 1

In today’s episode of the Carried by Grace 40-Day Journey, we’re talking about walking in alignment with God’s calling on your life. I share what it means to have grace for your assignment – knowing that God doesn’t just call you, He equips and sustains you with His grace every step of the way.

In Part 1, I share:

  • Why alignment with God matters more than striving
  • Even when you feel unseen, God sees you and knows you’re called

Reflection Question:  How has God used delays or closed doors to align me with His greater plan?

Speaker A:

Hello and welcome back to the Transformational Teacher Podcast.

Speaker A:

I am your host detoya and thank you so much for being here.

Speaker A:

We are on week five of our Carried by Grace journey.

Speaker A:

So far we have talked about beginning again.

Speaker A:

We found peace in the storm.

Speaker A:

We've embraced the growing seasons that we may find ourselves in at times.

Speaker A:

And last week we were reminded that being called doesn't necessarily mean it's in easy.

Speaker A:

It means that God walks with us and that he will equip us.

Speaker A:

But we have to follow him along the journey.

Speaker A:

And today we are going to talk about our divine assignments and alignment and the grace that carries us through it all.

Speaker A:

Cuz God is faithful and he is right there with us every step of the way.

Speaker A:

Here's the thing.

Speaker A:

We have to allow him to help us.

Speaker A:

We have to allow those God ordained people he placed in our lives to help us.

Speaker A:

So this week we're breaking up into two episodes.

Speaker A:

In part one, which is this one, I'm sharing how God aligned my steps and fulfilled promises I didn't even know he was working on behind the scenes.

Speaker A:

Because as we come into alignment with God, our assignment comes in order and our life as a whole begins to flow.

Speaker A:

There were seasons I questioned my readiness, my worth and even my calling.

Speaker A:

But God was ordering my steps even when I didn't realize it.

Speaker A:

As stated before:

Speaker A:

But yes, it hurt.

Speaker A:

But it wasn't the end.

Speaker A:

God had something greater for me.

Speaker A:

So in December:

Speaker A:

So I realized it wasn't a delay, it was divine preparation and set up for me.

Speaker A:

Now here's the thing.

Speaker A:

In:

Speaker A:

She helped me walk into that public school teaching role.

Speaker A:

She helped prepare my resume.

Speaker A:

She gave me some tips.

Speaker A:

It was amazing.

Speaker A:

But yes, I was in the public school setting, but I wanted to be in the county I lived in at that time.

Speaker A:

So that same summer after completing the school year, another door opened.

Speaker A:

A position in a school district I deeply wanted to be in.

Speaker A:

Because again, it's where I live.

Speaker A:

And here's where it gets beautiful.

Speaker A:

When I got my first job in a public school setting when of my now closest colleagues and friends she also applied for that same role, she didn't make it to the interview.

Speaker A:

But God wasn't closing her path to becoming a pre K teacher, he was aligning it differently.

Speaker A:

She was hired at another school in a different district.

Speaker A:

But here's the thing.

Speaker A:

Funny enough, I had actually applied for the position she got too, but didn't receive an interview.

Speaker A:

I received an email saying that the position had been fulfilled and not knowing at that time that it was her that got that position.

Speaker A:

Neither of us knew what God was ordering, but he was weaving something intentional, something that we both needed.

Speaker A:

So about a year later, again that position came open at that school where she worked, at that very district I wanted to be in.

Speaker A:

She told me about the opening and guess what?

Speaker A:

I applied.

Speaker A:

We didn't use our connection.

Speaker A:

We actually acted like we we didn't know each other.

Speaker A:

And guess what?

Speaker A:

I got the job.

Speaker A:

Now we work side by side.

Speaker A:

Our friendship, teamwork and shared faith has been such a vital part for both of our journeys.

Speaker A:

But God knew what I needed in each moment, and he knew what was going to come.

Speaker A:

We may not know, but Ephesians 2:10 says, for we are his workmanship, his own masterwork, a work of art created in Christ Jesus, reborn from above, spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used for good works which God prepared for us beforehand, taking paths which he set so that we would walk in them.

Speaker A:

I have been living this scripture out.

Speaker A:

I have been seeing it come to pass.

Speaker A:

And as I keep walking along the path God has for me, I'm seeing things come to pass even the more now, throughout my teaching journey, God has blessed me with incredible CO teachers.

Speaker A:

I know many people have challenges with their CO teachers, but that's not my story.

Speaker A:

Each one became not just a colleague, but a friend, a vital part of my life.

Speaker A:

And when my second CO teacher had to leave, it hurt.

Speaker A:

And I miss her dearly.

Speaker A:

But I reached out to our student intern that we had when we worked together.

Speaker A:

And I didn't think about it at that moment that I was ready to have an intern.

Speaker A:

But my principal, he thought differently.

Speaker A:

He had me to do it, and I'm thankful he did.

Speaker A:

And it showed me that I can do this, that I can help mentor an upcoming teacher, not knowing that this teacher will become my current ta.

Speaker A:

And it's amazing how God orchestrates things because at the end of her internship, she.

Speaker A:

She gave me a card.

Speaker A:

And in the card she wrote a note.

Speaker A:

And one part said, this is not goodbye, is see you later.

Speaker A:

And she was right.

Speaker A:

Because I currently again, I work with her now.

Speaker A:

God knew exactly what I needed in each season.

Speaker A:

And here's what I learned each CO teacher I've worked with again has played a significant role in my life.

Speaker A:

They've helped me grow as a teacher, as a woman of God.

Speaker A:

And I truly believe, just as they made an impact on me, that God used me to make an impact on them.

Speaker A:

It is vital to have the right connections.

Speaker A:

And it's so amazing how God connects us to people, to help us along life journeys.

Speaker A:

Now maybe God gave you a promise that feels distant.

Speaker A:

Let this remind you he is faithful to fulfill what he said.

Speaker A:

I've seen this in so many areas of my life.

Speaker A:

From opening doors for my lead teaching position when I was told I wasn't ready at first, to aligning my steps with co teachers and colleagues I didn't even know that I needed.

Speaker A:

By planning me at a T, which wasn't just about academics, it was about alignment, going to a T, it connected to me, to my church and being planted in my church.

Speaker A:

It has helped me to see who God says I am.

Speaker A:

It has pulled things out of me that I didn't even know were there.

Speaker A:

Being a part of my church has helped me grow in my relationship with God.

Speaker A:

It has played such a vital role in my journey.

Speaker A:

Being connected to God and being connected to building lives, family ministry.

Speaker A:

I am so thankful for that connection.

Speaker A:

And even meeting my husband was a fulfillment of prophecy.

Speaker A:

Here's the thing.

Speaker A:

A year before we even dated, my pastor spoke that my husband would find me in my gift.

Speaker A:

At that time, I didn't fully understand.

Speaker A:

But as I served in children's ministry there, he was already serving too.

Speaker A:

We had been in the same ministry for years, but it wasn't until we began working together, working closely together that God revealed His plans.

Speaker A:

What God spoke, he fulfilled.

Speaker A:

Not always in my timing, not always in the way I expected, but always in his perfect way.

Speaker A:

And here again is what I've learned.

Speaker A:

God's promises are often fulfilled in the midst of our assignments.

Speaker A:

Prophetic words are seeds.

Speaker A:

We water with the word of God.

Speaker A:

Faith, prayer and obedience.

Speaker A:

Alignment and surrender position us for the fulfillment.

Speaker A:

So if you're holding on to a promise today, don't let go of it.

Speaker A:

If God has given it to you, keep serving, keep showing up, keep becoming.

Speaker A:

Keep being faithful to God.

Speaker A:

Faithful to the assignment he has given to you.

Speaker A:

Whenever you're walking in alignment and fulfillment warfare, it may come.

Speaker A:

But God's grace will equip you.

Speaker A:

He will help you speak, stand.

Speaker A:

So today we talked about how God aligns our footsteps, fulfills his promises and positions us for the next assignment.

Speaker A:

Stay tuned for part two as we go deeper into spiritual warfare.

Speaker A:

That often can come when we're walking in alignment and in our assignment.

Speaker A:

And we are going to talk about how we stand firm with grace and authority.

Speaker A:

So again, thank you so much for listening to this episode.

Speaker A:

Make sure you grab your companion journal this week and reflect on how how has God used delays or closed doors to align me with his greater plan?

Speaker A:

Now, of course, there's other reflection prompts in the journal, so be sure to head to thetransformationalteacher.com and I will also drop it in the show notes.

Speaker A:

So again, thank you for walking along this journey with me.

Speaker A:

I love you all and I am cheering you on.

Speaker A:

I will speak with you soon.
